Beware of Predatory Practices

When disaster strikes your home, the last thing you need is a contractor taking advantage of the emergency. Unfortunately, the restoration industry is plagued by predatory practices. Many unscrupulous companies pressure distressed homeowners into signing an Assignment of Benefits (AOB)—a legal document that surrenders the homeowner's rights and gives the contractor total control over the insurance claim. Once signed, these companies often perform unwarranted deconstruction, push unnecessary "mold remediation," and submit grossly inflated invoices to insurance carriers without providing transparent estimates to the homeowner.

Furthermore, we do not exploit loopholes—such as the emergency exceptions found in A.R.S. § 32-1158.02—that allow contractors to bypass written estimates and begin unwarranted work under the guise of "preventing further loss". Instead, KNC Contracting has built extensive, trusting relationships with insurance companies over the years by remaining honest, providing detailed itemized descriptions of all work, and being strictly transparent and reasonable in our pricing. We believe the homeowner should always remain in control of their property and their insurance claim.
